Description
Wish is the band’s most criminally underrated record and it’s difficult to see where the critical animosity stems from. In a comparative context with the rest of the band’s catalogue, it’s accurate that the album does fall a bit short. But taken on its own and analysed from start to finish, it’s an absolute masterpiece of atmosphere and emotion. If another band had recorded and released this album at the same time, it would have been lauded as the masterpiece it was (and is). This is the gem that got an entirely new generation of Cure fans into their back catalogue, and it should be celebrated instead of endlessly criticized
